Check-in in Barzio, via Dante

09/12/2022 by Maria Anishchenko

Hi! If you are seeing this page, you have already booked our apartment in Barzio. Here you will find some information that might be useful for your arrival and stay.

How to reach the apartment

By car:

If you come from Milan, follow S36 road. When you will be passing Lecco (after a long tunnel), take the exit to Valsassina and follow the street. When you reach a huge roundabout in Ballabio continue towards Valsassina to the Colli di Balisio, where you will find a Brico Center (on the left). At this point at the roundabout you can decide to continue towards the valley and go up towards Barzio, or follow the road to the right that passes through Maggio and Cremeno. In both cases, you will arrive on the Via Provinciale of Barzio from where you should turn to via Milano.

The house is located on via Dante, it is in the very center of Barzio, in a couple of minutes walk from the main square. There are just few parking places nearby and to reach them you need to enter some narrow authentic streets. If you are not used to drive in historical center, we suggest you to park a bit outside at via Bergamini, or if there are no places, go to the large parking near Pasticeria Passoni.

By public transport

It is not very easy to move in Valsassina by public transport, however it is possible. Barzio is connected to Lecco by bus n.D35. It goes every 30-60 min, but doesn’t go at night. From Lecco you can easily move by trains and boats. You can easily reach Lecco by train from Milan or Bergamo.

There are websites https://www.leccotrasporti.it/ and https://lineelecco.it/ where you can check the exact schedule, but they are pretty hard to navigate. We would recommend using the Moovit app to control the schedule. You can buy tickets on board of some buses, or in tobacco shops (tabaccheria). On board the price is always higher. Always check schedule in advance!

Check our post about the public transport in the area to know more!

How to recognize the house

The house is located at via Dante, 3. It is next to the Real Estate Agency ImmobiliareBarzio08. If you inform us a few minutes before the arrival, we will meet you in front of the door that you see on the picture below 🙂 In any case, if you enter this door, the apartment is the first to the right.

Cable cars

From Barzio you can take a cable car to go to Piani di Bobbio. The schedule changes depending on the season, so always check it, but usually, it is open from 8.30 to 17.00 with a lunch break. The cost is 10 euros in one direction and 15 euros in both directions. Discounts for kids.

In winter season it is better to by the cable car tickets and ski passes online in advance, because there can be huge lines in the morning. Also, there is a discount for those who buy ski passes 24h in advance. A bus connecting the village to the ski lift is passing nearby.

There is another cable car nearby that connects Moggio and Piani d’Artavaggio. It is as well a very nice area both in summer and winter! There are only a couple of slopes, but it can be a good starting point for beginners and families with kids. It is also very nice for snowshoeing! You can reach Moggio by foot (about 40min), by bus, or by car.

During the weekends and holidays, there is a free bus that connects Barzio and the cable cars. It stops in front of the Pasticeria Passoni, which is 3 min walk from the apartment. You can also reach the Barzio cable car on foot! It is 15 min walk, though the street is going uphill.
